Our History

The Peoples Bank, opened for business in 1951 in a one-story building located on Broad Street in downtown Iva, SC. The bank was chartered in October 1950 with Dr. C.D. Evans as the President, and Mr. J.P. Patterson as Executive Vice-President and Head Cashier.

In 1965, the Bank purchased and renovated the old post office building in Iva. The building was later donated to the Iva Civic Center Improvement Association and now houses the Iva Museum.

The Bicentennial year of 1976 saw the Bank construct a new office building one block away. This facility continues to serve as the center piece of downtown Iva and remains the Main Office - home to over 20 employees.

Beginning in 1981, The Peoples Bank expanded it's presence within the county by opening a branch office in Anderson, SC. Today, the Bank serves Anderson County with seven full-service locations.

The Peoples Bank is authentically local - we were founded here; we are headquartered here and all of our locations are here. The Bank continues to be owned by local people and maintains the goal of our founders--to have a local bank to serve the needs of the local residents and businesses.
